मूल स्वभाव

स्वभावो नोपदेशेन शक्यते कर्तुमन्यथा!

सुतप्तमपि पानीयं पुनर्गच्छति शीतताम् !!

अर्थ

आप किसी व्यक्ति को कितनी भी सलाह दे दें, उसका मूल स्वभाव नहीं बदलता, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे ठंडे पानी को उबालने पर वह गर्म हो जाता है, लेकिन बाद में फिर से ठंडा हो जाता है।

व्याख्या

मूल स्वभाव किसी व्यक्ति के सोचने, महसूस करने और व्यवहार करने के तरीके का एक अपेक्षाकृत स्थायी हिस्सा होता है। यह हर व्यक्ति के लिए अनोखा होता है। जैसे-जैसे इंसान बड़ा होता है, अंदर और बाहर सब कुछ बदल जाता है। लोग, हालात, पसंद, प्राथमिकताएं, झुकाव और पूर्वाग्रह - सब कुछ बदल जाता है, लेकिन आपके अंदर कुछ ऐसा होता है - आपका स्व, आपका वास्तविक रूप या मूल स्वभाव जो कभी नहीं बदलता। एक बार जब जीवन के शुरुआती सालों में मूल स्वभाव स्थापित हो जाता है, तो माहौल और हालात का मूल स्वभाव पर नाम मात्र प्रभाव पड़ता है। मूल स्वभाव स्थापित होने के बाद, माहौल और हालात के बदलाव सिर्फ पर्सनैलिटी पर असर डाल सकते हैं, मूल स्वभाव पर नहीं।

Meaning

No matter how much advice you give to a person, their basic nature does not change just like when cold water is boiled, it becomes hot but later it becomes cold again.

Description

Basic nature is a relatively permanent part of the way one thinks, feels and behaves. It is unique to every individual. As one grows, everything changes, within and without. People, situations, preferences, priorities, inclinations and prejudice- everything changes, but there is something deep inside- ‘the self’- the real you, or the basic nature that never changes, down the decades. Once the basic nature gets established in the initial years of life, environment and circumstances have very little effect on the basic nature of an individual. In my blog post ‘Basic Nature and Personality’ I have explained that after the establishment of basic nature, environmental and circumstantial changes can affect personality only, not basic nature.
