 विद्या विवादाय धनं मदाय शक्तिः परेषां परिपीडनाय। 

खलस्य साधोः विपरीतमेतज्ज्ञानाय दानाय च रक्षणाय॥

अर्थ

दुष्ट व्यक्ति विद्या का उपयोग विवाद के लिए, धन का उपयोग घमंड के लिए और शक्ति का उपयोग दूसरों को पीड़ा देने के लिए करता है। जबकि सज्जन व्यक्ति विद्या का उपयोग ज्ञान के लिए, धन का उपयोग दान के लिए और शक्ति का उपयोग रक्षा के लिए करता है।

व्याख्या

यह श्लोक सज्जन और दुष्ट व्यक्ति के स्वभाव में अंतर को दर्शाता है। दुष्ट व्यक्ति अपनी योग्यताओं का दुरुपयोग करता है, जबकि सज्जन व्यक्ति उनका सदुपयोग करता है। इस श्लोक में विद्या, धन और शक्ति की महत्ता, सज्जन व्यक्तियों की महानता और सज्जन-दुष्ट के भेद को सुंदर रूप में समझाया गया है।  विद्या, धन और शक्ति का महत्व व्यक्ति के स्वभाव पर निर्भर करता है। इन गुणों का उपयोग विनाश के लिए भी किया जा सकता है और कल्याण के लिए भी। 

Meaning

A wicked person uses knowledge for argumentation, wealth for arrogance, and power to inflict suffering on others; whereas a virtuous person uses knowledge for wisdom, wealth for charity, and power for protection.

Description

This verse illustrates the difference in character between a virtuous person and a wicked one. The wicked person misuses their capabilities, whereas the virtuous person puts them to constructive use. The verse beautifully elucidates the significance of knowledge, wealth, and power, the greatness of virtuous individuals, and the distinction between the virtuous and the wicked. The true value of knowledge, wealth, and power depends on the individual's nature; these attributes can be employed either for destruction or for the greater good.
